BOOKS GO BOOM 💥 (a book club?!) | tell us what to read & join your explosive bookish squad!

Are you a book lover? Are you one to embrace and spread all that bookish love? And on the hunt for new stories (*casually ignores growing tbr*) that makes your heart go BOOM?
You have found the right fam! Join your squad now!! And get to participate in reading sprints, buddy reads, readathons…and so much more!! THIS IS YOUR EXPLOSIVE SQUAD!!! GO BOOM GUYS!!!

Hello everyone, welcome back!

I’m super pleased and hyped to announce the lovely Ashmita @ The Fictional Journal and I have started a book club: Books Go Boom together! (click HERE for her post)

*breaks into a frenzied and excited dance with my two left feet*

thanks Ashmita for this beauty of a logo… the gold is making my eyes go swirly

How is this going to work?

We’ll be reading a book every month together from most genres from the Young Adult and Adult category: fantasy, contemporary, historical, sci-fi… etc (just no full romance or horror for we are scaredy cats *sheepish grin*)

Books Go Boom has its own Goodreads group. You can join it here! The Goodreads group will be for random chats and interactions – you can chat, sign up for buddy reads and more!

As we read our book of the month together, there will be several discussion threads dedicated to different chapters you can access while reading. This is so that you can scream about that nasty plot twist or that tragic death while reading the book! Furthermore, this will allow a spoilery discussion of specific parts of the book and allow you all to hear what your fellow members before you are feeling at those pivotal moments of the book!

We will also be discussing and screaming over the book at the end of each month!

If you don’t have access to the book, we would be more than happy and glad to share a (digital) copy with you (though email). (do I smell a fReE bOok???)

December Book of the Month – FANTASY

Since this is the first month of Books Go Boom, Ashmita and I have pre-picked 3 possible Book of the Months! Here they are in all their bookish glory…

*starry eyes* (for future botms, we will get your suggestions!!)

AND WE NEED YOUR VOTE. COMMENT ON WHICH ONE WE SHOULD READ, EVEN BETTER IF YOU JOIN US!

The Raven Boys (Maggie Stiefvater), Spin the Dawn (Elizabeth Lim) and Set Fire to the Gods (Sara Raasch and Kristen Simmons)!

I’ve linked the book images to Goodreads for you to go read about them. If you have read these books already, come join us for a reread or take part in the discussions!

We would be absolutely thrilled if you would join us at BOOKS GO BOOM! Have you read any of these books?

Please comment to vote for which book we should read!

    1. OMG THANK YOU RIDDHI (I was nervous everyone would ignore this post) *sending my love across the bookternet* 🥰

Ahh yes “full romance” refers to the entire story on simply romance with steamy stuff haha… there will definitely be romance in some of the books we choose from different genres, e.g fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary… Hope this clarifies! 😊

      1. I am part of another group (not book club), but Club Blume, which is Blumenthal’s Young Adult Club. Only problem is that members tend to go to informances with friends, but at least I get a voucher for discounts.

Book clubs- they make me a bit nervous.

        1. In a way, almost feels like required reading and that really scares me. I never had good experiences with required reading- all due to being more close-minded especially to tragedies

I think starting 2021, I might be able to read more books. Only if I get at kindle for Christmas.

  1. Omg this sounds amazing Cherelle!!! I’m afraid I won’t be able to join the Goodreads group as I… don’t have Goodreads 😂😅 But I’m probably going to follow along on my own because WOW those books are fantastic choices!! Set Fire to the Gods has been on my radar for so long and this is the perfect excuse for me to read it!!!! I can’t wait to see where this book club takes you 🥰❤️

  2. This is awesome! I’ve already joined the GR group xD My vote goes to the Raven Boys!

PS. Cherelle, please help me xD I’m stuck. You know how my blog homepage has the featured images with fancy edges? I’d been looking in the customizer for how to make them square and I just can’t find it! Do you know how?

    1. Thank you Alex! ❤ Ahh I don’t have your blog theme so I’m not very sure. I think that if you can’t find it in the customiser then it can’t be changed. The only way to change it would be to set the home as a static page, and on the page, use the editor to add the “posts” block… I tried that and they have the option for different edges (at least for this theme I’m using) Hope it helps Alex, and don’t worry so much… your blog glow up looks fantastic!

  3. Glad to see you started a book club! I definitely joined! I’d love to discuss the book with you but I have no physical copy! Is there a way to send it through my contact box of my website?!

    So excited!

  4. I would LOVE to join but I don’t know how active I would be able to be due to having sucky home wifi. Plus the fact that I might not be able to get a copy of most of the books that may be chosen. I don’t want to ask for freebies if I can’t participate. If I joined, would there be a problem if I can’t be an active member? I don’t want to freeload on you guys, that would just be rude of me. I love the name of the club though!!! ^_^

    1. Ahh thank you so much for your enthusiasm, as well as your thoughtfulness… no worries, technical issues are understandable! You don’t have to be very active to join, we would be thrilled if you could join us, even if it meant just reading the book and not discussing (You actually need to create a Goodreads account to join but there are some people who are simply reading along!)! Ashmita and I would be happy to provide you with a free copy, don’t worry!
