ONE DAY MORE. ONE MORE DAY TO
I’m echoing everyone’s sentiments: How is it already the 31st of December, with 2022 being… tomorrow? Well regardless, there’s one last day of closure for 2021, and I’ve a record for being notoriously late to blog milestones and all, so for once here’s a wrap up that’s just in time. I’m excited to review 2021 in all its bookish, Poppy-War-ish glory!

Hello friends!! Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas yesterday if you celebrated, if not a restful weekend as we hurtle towards the end of the year?
Despite being in denial about 2021 being over, I’ve come out of my hibernation with my favourite post yearly, on the best books of the year. I’m not hyperbolic at all in claiming that books have been my sanity-anchors throughout this hectic year, but more on that kind of reflections during my yearly wrap up! For now, it’s time to scream about these books for the umpteenth time with as much vigour as the first!!

Yes, the day has come. These Violent Delights which I read earlier in January, emerged one of my favourite books for this year so far, and given the hype, Our Violent Ends is one of mine, and literally everyone’s most anticipated sequel of 2021.
So, let’s talk Our Violent Ends.

Hello friends! I just realised that it has been 11 months on the blog and I haven’t declared this officially which is just, to say the least, preposterous, so here we go:
I’m seriously obsessed with the MCU
(Marvel Cinematic Universe).
I thought I was over that phase of my life a few years ago but Disney + brought back all the nostalgia and all the new films and TV shows (Black Widow! TFATWS! Loki!) reminded me of my love for this fandom!
And hence, after reading Maya’s lovely review of Loki, I was inspired to put together a list of book recommendations based on some of my favourite Marvel movies, finally a recommendation post breaking the monotony of solely book reviews and wrap-ups this year, and one that won the popular vote as to what posts y’all wanted to see!
Without further ado, let the gushing commence. (click on the book titles which will lead you to their respective Goodreads pages.)

Has the realisation that the middle of the year has dawned and past shattered your mind, soul, spirit yet? Because it certainly has for me.
However, instead of morning and mourning the supersonic speed of time, allow me to instead freak out over how much I loved my reads this year, as well as how my TBR pile towers over those that I have read!
Spoiler alert: I’m being dramatic, but not hyperbolic. (And yes, that was a reference to The Poppy War, ah the wonders of foreshadowing!)

Raise your hand if you’re not used to writing 2021.
*raises right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot*
I know everyone has said this but let me reiterate: I can’t believe that we are finally in 2021, the situation is still *gradually* getting better and I’m so thankful and excited for how this year will (hopefully) improve. How has everyone been?
For me, the start of the year means a start of the endless workload and thus I have been appearing and posting sporadically during this month, but your support nonetheless means a million! This month, I have read significantly less books than my crazy amount in December and yet I’m still enjoying my reading, as it feels more relaxed and each good story lasts longer.

A Romeo and Juliet retelling set in 1920s Shanghai, whilst a monster rages across the city with a complex enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers that employs such atmospheric writing? Y’all were right, These Violent Delights is utter brilliance. And help me while I sob and go on a rampage till November when Our Violent Ends comes out.
