Review: A Druids Tale by A.J. Thornton | A YA Fantasy based on Celtic Legends

Honestly speaking, this was one of those books that took me a LONG time to formulate my thoughts with how I was in two minds about nearly every aspect, but I enjoyed it immensely.

Review: These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong | A Brutal, Atmospheric and Kick-ass Romeo and Juliet Retelling set in 1920s Shanghai 🐉

A Romeo and Juliet retelling set in 1920s Shanghai, whilst a monster rages across the city with a complex enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers that employs such atmospheric writing? Y’all were right, These Violent Delights is utter brilliance. And help me while I sob and go on a rampage till November when Our Violent Ends comes out.

Review: A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir [An Ember in the Ashes #2] | A Compelling Sequel Edging Towards the Dark Side

Second books in series were never my thing, I mean come on, the infamous “second-book syndrome” is a real problem, where various middle books in series were essentially just extensions and filler books. Typically, only introductions or finales manage to engage and amaze, that is until I met A Torch Against the Night.

Review: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir [An Ember in the Ashes #1] | A Compelling Start to a YA Fantasy Quartet set in a brutal, Roman-inspired Empire

“Life is made of so many moments that mean nothing. Then one day, a single moment comes along to define every second that comes after. Such moments are tests of courage, of strength.”

Life is made of many books (though they all mean a lot). Then one day, a single book (aka AEITA) comes along to define every book that comes after. Such books are stories of courage, of strength.

I FINALLY READ IT AND GOBBLED IT IN ONE DAY, IT WAS THAT GRIPPING, OKAY?

Review: The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black [Folk of the Air # 3]

“By you, I am forever undone.”

We have come to the conclusion of the Folk of the Air series! It’s been a long journey but I would say I am pretty satisfied, for the most part. Continue reading “Review: The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black [Folk of the Air # 3]”

Review: The Wicked King by Holly Black [Folk of the Air #2]

“The three of you have one solution to every problem. Murder. No key fits every lock.” Cardan gives us all a stern look, holding up a long-fingered hand with my stolen ruby ring still on one finger. “Someone tries to betray the High King, murder. Someone gives you a harsh look, murder. Someone disrespects you, murder. Someone ruins your laundry, murder.

How did the sequel to a 2½ stars book turn out to be a whooping 4 stars?

I think that The Wicked King picked me up like a rag doll and smashed me on the floor. Violently, viciously, with its plot. For once, I loved being hit. Continue reading “Review: The Wicked King by Holly Black [Folk of the Air #2]”

Review: The Cruel Prince by Holly Black [Folk of the Air #1] | Yet Another Hyped Book that Fell Flat, Hurray

I was fae-scinated by this book (ugh shut up, Cherelle).

It has been a long time since I dove into a fantasy series, especially one this hyped up. I had high expectations and came out with mixed feelings though spoiler alert: negative > positive.
